He was born Michael Douglas. But since another actor was going by that name, he chose to use the name of his personal screen idol, Buster Keaton.
The Michael Douglas we’ve known since “The Streets of San Francisco” wasn’t born with that moniker. His dad Kirk of Polish decent had the surname Demsky.
